Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and MLA from Hasanpur, has taken a big step in Bihar politics. On Saturday, he announced his own party, Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD), just ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections. This move comes after his expulsion from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) earlier this year.
The JJD got registered back in 2020, and now the Election Commission has given it the blackboard as its election symbol. At a huge rally of supporters in Patna, Tej Pratap also revealed a new alliance called Bihar Alliance. He plans to fight the state polls through this group.
When asked about his rift with the RJD family, Tej Pratap kept it humble. “I’m not after the Chief Minister’s chair. For me, all of Bihar is like my family,” he said. He also cleared the air on his old comments targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother during the Voter Adhikar Yatra. “No one should drag mothers into politics—be it Congress, BJP, or anyone. God will curse those who do,” he added firmly.
This announcement follows a tough time for Tej Pratap. He got kicked out of the RJD and the Yadav family for six years after photos with a woman named Anuskha Yadav went viral on social media. Despite that, he’s stayed active. He wants to contest from the Mahua Assembly seat, which he won in 2015.
Lately, Tej Pratap has been busy with good deeds. He showed up in Raghopur, a key area for his younger brother Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of Opposition. A viral video, shared by his sister Rohini Acharya, captured him helping flood-hit villagers late Thursday night. He gave them food, water, shelter at his home, and even chipped in with money. “Serving the poor and needy is real service to God,” he said while handing out relief.
As Bihar Assembly elections heat up, Tej Pratap’s new party and his moves in Raghopur are shaking things up. It hints at family tensions in the Yadav camp and a fresh challenge to RJD’s hold on the state. Bihar politics just got even more exciting!
