Congress leader Akhilesh Prasad Singh made a bold statement on Saturday, declaring that Tejashwi Yadav from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) will lead as the chief ministerial candidate for the Mahagathbandhan alliance in the upcoming Bihar assembly elections. “There’s no second option—Tejashwi Yadav will be the CM face,” Singh told in New Delhi.
The Mahagathbandhan, a key opposition group that brings together the RJD and Congress, is ramping up efforts to take on the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar’s polls, set for later this year. This move signals a united front in Bihar politics, focusing on challenging the current government led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Earlier that day, Tejashwi Yadav himself stepped up, stressing a fresh approach to Bihar politics centered on growth and progress. Speaking at rallies, he shared videos from events like one in Khagaria district, highlighting his vision for development over divisions like caste or religion.
“I’ve come for new politics—one that talks about development, improvement, prosperity, and industries across every sector,” Yadav said. He pushed for boosting per capita income and investment in Bihar, building politics around positivity, creativity, progress, and real change.
Yadav framed the Bihar elections as a crucial fight for the state’s youth and farmers. “This is a battle for the farmer’s sweat, the laborer’s hard work, and the unemployed youth’s future. It’s do-or-die, and I won’t stop until I lead Bihar to victory,” he wrote in a post on X, sharing rally footage.
He didn’t hold back in criticizing Nitish Kumar, accusing the chief minister of losing touch with Bihar’s young people. “The youth of Bihar have united for change, rights, and an economic revolution,” Yadav posted. “A CM who doesn’t know the dreams, expectations, and hopes of the youth can’t create policies that help them. Surrounded by retired officers and tired leaders, he simply can’t grasp their aspirations.”
As Bihar politics heats up, Yadav’s push for youth-focused development could play a big role in swaying voters ahead of the assembly polls.
