Congress Gears Up for Massive BC Declaration Rally in Kamareddy
In a big push to celebrate its promises to Backward Classes (BCs), the ruling Congress party in Telangana is set to bring together two lakh people for a grand success rally in Kamareddy on September 15. This event marks the one-year anniversary of the party’s BC declaration, which was unveiled right there during the 2023 Assembly elections.
The preparations kicked off with a key meeting in Kamareddy on Sunday, drawing top leaders including five state ministers. TPCC President and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud led the discussions, stressing that the rally will spotlight Congress’s achievements and put pressure on opposition parties like BJP and BRS.
Remember, it was in Kamareddy where Congress made bold promises to BCs, including a 42 percent reservation in education, jobs, and local bodies. The state government has already turned these words into action by passing bills in the Assembly to boost BC reservations to 42 percent. Goud made it clear that Congress remains rock-solid on giving legal backing to these reservations.
He didn’t hold back in slamming the BJP for blocking the BC reservation bills at the national level. "This Kamareddy rally will wake up Prime Minister Modi and Amit Shah to the reality," Goud said, adding that it will force the Centre to act. He also called out Union Minister Bandi Sanjay and Nizamabad MP D. Arvind for staying quiet on BC issues. "BJP leaders are out there begging for votes in the name of God—Bandi Sanjay even visits temples every morning to drum up support," Goud quipped.
Turning to the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), Goud fired sharp shots at K. Chandrashekar Rao’s family. He labeled K. Kavitha the ‘Liquor Queen’ who tarnished Nizamabad’s image and accused the KCR clan of looting the state. "It’s funny that Kavitha admitted to the loot herself—if she’d said it five years ago, we’d have honored her! Now, BRS is crumbling due to family fights over their stolen riches, and they’ll be wiped out in the next elections," he predicted.
Goud highlighted Congress’s commitment to equality for all, crediting party workers’ efforts for bringing the party to power. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is bringing Rahul Gandhi’s vision to life, ensuring everyone gets a fair share. Backing this up, Goud pointed to the caste census revealing BCs make up 56.33 percent of Telangana’s population. "Congress stands firm on delivering 42 percent reservations to BCs," he assured the crowd.
The meeting saw attendance from heavyweights like Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar, Seethakka, Konda Surekha, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, and Vakati Srihari. Also present were Government Advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir, MP Suresh Shetkar, several MLAs, DCC presidents, and other party leaders. With this rally, Congress aims to rally support for BC welfare and strengthen its hold in Telangana politics.
