Police in Telangana raided an illegal party at a farmhouse inside the Moinabad police station limits on October 6. The raid found 62 people – 22 minors and 40 adults – in a private gathering that was presumably meant for a celebration. Two adults tested positive for drugs using a quick urine test kit, and police have registered cases against the two offenders and the event organizers. Investigations are still ongoing.
In a separate but related drug bust, the Rachakonda Narcotics Police Station teamed up with the Regional Narcotics Control Cell of the Khammam wing of EAGLE (Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement). Law‑enforcement agents intercepted a vehicle in a Delhi‑to‑Rajasthan transport route near Ramoji Film City, catching three transporters from Rajasthan who were illegally moving 401 kg of cannabis (ganja) from Visakhapatnam. The weed had been hidden inside a load of coconuts and was intended for a supplier in Rajasthan.
The six suspects identified in the shipment are Chotu Narayana Lal Naik, Pushkar Raj Naik, Kishan Lal Nayak, Sridhar, Ashu and Parameshwar. Though Sridhar, Ashu and Parameshwar are still at large, local officials say that Om Bishnoi of Chittorgarh was a key player. Bishnoi had bought the ganja from Sridhar in Rajamundry and paid Naik Rs 25,000 per trip to transport it in a Hyundai Venue. When Bishnoi was arrested in Jagdalpur, Odisha, Naik struck a new deal to buy 400 kg of ganja at Rs 2,000 per kilogram and sell it to Ashu in Bikaner for Rs 4,000 a kilogram, with Pushkar Raj Naik, Kishan Lal Nayak and Parameshwar helping transport the goods.
The smugglers loaded the ganja into a van hidden under a coconut shipment and drove it toward Rajasthan. As the vans approached the Vijayawada Highway near Abdullapurmet X‑Road, a combined raid by the Rachakonda Narcotics Police and RNCC Khammam Wing stopped them. They seized 401.467 kg of ganja, five cell phones, a van, and a car.
A formal case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been filed at the Rachakonda Narcotics Police Station. The raid highlights Telangana police’s ongoing crackdown on illegal drug trafficking and drug‑filled social gatherings.
