Patna, Bihar – An independent MP from Purnea, Pappu Yadav, said on Sunday that the upcoming Bihar Assembly polls will pit “destruction” against “development.” He stressed that the Mahagathbandhan, or Grand Alliance, is key in this race.
Yadav added that the INDIA bloc will lean heavily on Rahul Gandhi’s popularity. “Rahul Gandhi is the heart of his party and its workers,” he told reporters, linking the Congress MP’s Voter Adhikar Yatra to the broader campaign.
He criticised the current government for drifting away from the daily concerns of ordinary people. “We must stay connected to the ground and honor our party workers,” Yadav warned.
Meanwhile, Congress leaders Pawan Khera and Akhilesh Prasad Singh said that seat‑sharing talks are almost finished. Khera said a final meeting will decide how many seats each party inside the INDIA bloc will contest. Singh told reporters that the last‑minute hurdles faced by both the NDA and the new alliance will be cleared soon, with an announcement coming in a day or two.
The state’s 243 seats will be elected in two rounds on 6 November and 11 November, with voting counted on 14 November. The main contest will be between the BJP‑led NDA, the Janata Dal (United), and the INDIA bloc, headed by Rashtriya Janata Dal’s Tejashwi Yadav.
