Union Home Minister Amit Shah said the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is united and running smoothly as Bihar’s assembly elections approach. The minister addressed the media on Saturday, pushing back on rumors that the alliance is split over seat‑sharing and candidate selection.
“Anything in a coalition is natural in a democratic setup,” Shah said. “Talks, demands, different opinions – that’s normal. It doesn’t mean a rift.” He added that once a decision is made, all parties follow it in line with the alliance’s ideology. “This is not a military organisation; it’s a democratic coalition. Disagreements happen. Speaking of those as a rift is wrong.”
Reports of friction over seat allocation had surfaced, but Shah insisted that “all nominations have been filed, seats have been allocated, and candidates have been finalized.” He praised the NDA’s organisational discipline and highlighted that no rebellion has occurred.
In contrast, the minister criticised the opposition’s INDIA bloc. “None of this has happened in the opposition’s INDIA bloc,” he said, implying that the rival coalition is still struggling with internal disagreement.
The comments come as Bihar remains a key battleground before the 2025 general elections. Shah’s remarks reflect the BJP’s strategy of presenting the NDA as stable and ideologically aligned, especially when compared with the opposition’s visible internal clashes.
