In Rewa district of India’s Madhya Pradesh, a tragic tractor‑trolley accident on Wednesday night left at least three people dead and several others hurt. The crash happened in Ambha village, about 35 km from the district headquarters.
The victims were mainly residents of the village Sar N.1 in the Gangeo block. A local family member, Rajput Saket Akka Kallu, told reporters that his cousin and another man died in the collision. Four injured people were in critical condition, all on ventilators at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital for the past 10 hours. Two of those patients were sent to Jabalpur Medical College and to Nagpur for further treatment, while the rest are recovering at the hospital.
Saket said his family had been celebrating the arrival of a baby boy and were on their way to Sirmour for the “Barhon” birth‑celebration program. They had hired a tractor in their village to travel. As they reached Ambha, a tractor coming from the opposite direction collided with their trolley, throwing passengers to the ground. About 25‑30 people were on the trolley, and another vehicle, loaded with construction wood, was headed the opposite way.
The police arrived on the scene quickly and transported the injured to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital, roughly 30 km away. Chief Medical Officer Saurabh Goyal confirmed that 12 people were admitted, with four staying in the intensive care unit. A police case has been registered and investigations are ongoing. The tractor‑trolley involved was seized by officers the following morning.
The incident has shocked the local community, turning a joyous celebration into a day of mourning.
