Tamil Nadu BJP spokesperson A.N.S. Prasad has warmly congratulated C.P. Radhakrishnan on his election as India’s 15th Vice President. This big win, Prasad says, shows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s clear vision for a united Bharat and marks a proud moment for southern states in national politics.
Radhakrishnan clinched the top spot with 452 votes, beating opposition candidate Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy’s 300 in the election held on September 9. “This victory highlights our nation’s strong push for unity and growth under the NDA government’s leadership,” Prasad shared, emphasizing how it brings fresh representation from the south.
Hailing from Tamil Nadu, the new Vice President adds huge prestige to the southern region, according to Prasad. He hopes Radhakrishnan will champion constitutional values as the Chairman of Rajya Sabha, while driving social development and national integration. “It’s a win for all of us in the south,” Prasad added.
Let’s take a quick look at Radhakrishnan’s inspiring journey. Born in Tiruppur in 1957, he joined the RSS at just 17 and climbed the ranks in the BJP. He served as Tamil Nadu State Secretary in 1996 and State President from 2004 to 2007. One of his standout efforts was the 93-day Ratha Yatra, where he traveled 19,000 km to promote key issues like river linking, fighting terrorism, ending untouchability, and protecting the environment.
Radhakrishnan represented Coimbatore in the Lok Sabha in 1998 and 1999, contributing to major parliamentary committees. In 2004, he even spoke at the United Nations on humanitarian coordination. From 2016 to 2020, as Chairman of the Coir Board, he ramped up exports to Rs 2,700 crore, helping rural communities thrive. Later, as Governor of Jharkhand, Telangana, Puducherry, and Maharashtra, he focused on grassroots work and health drives, including efforts to wipe out tuberculosis.
Prasad called him a “true humanitarian with a spotless record” and praised PM Modi’s leadership for rallying NDA allies like AIADMK, TDP, and YSRCP to support his bid. “This isn’t just Radhakrishnan’s success—it’s proof of Modi ji’s patriotic drive and his dream for a developed India, or Viksit Bharat,” Prasad concluded.
