Tamil Nadu Minister K.N. Nehru Rallies DMK Workers for Key Meetings and Events
In a spirited address to DMK party workers in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu Municipal Administration Minister K.N. Nehru called on everyone to gear up for important gatherings. He wants party functionaries and coordinators of the ‘Oraniyil Tamil Nadu’ initiative to bring in newly joined members for a special meeting on September 15. This date marks the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister C.N. Annadurai, a legendary figure in Tamil Nadu politics.
Nehru, who also serves as the DMK’s principal secretary, emphasized keeping things smooth and hassle-free. "Hold these meetings at school grounds or community halls, but make sure they don’t bother the public," he said. He set a clear target: each booth in-charge must ensure at least 100 new members show up and take a pledge to protect Tamil Nadu’s rights.
The minister stressed discipline as key to political success. He reminded workers of Chief Minister and DMK president M.K. Stalin’s instructions: avoid criticizing rival parties and focus on positive, committed campaigning. "This approach will lead us to victory in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections," Nehru assured the enthusiastic crowd.
Highlighting the party’s strong base in central districts, Nehru noted there are 11,000 booths in the region, with 860 right in Tiruchirappalli district alone. He also shared updates on election prep—union secretaries will soon get booklets to check voters’ lists and get ready for the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision drive in Tamil Nadu.
Nehru urged all DMK cadres to finish tasks from the ‘Oraniyil Tamil Nadu’ programme, launched by CM Stalin, and work hard in the months ahead. He made a special call to attend the ‘Mupperum Vizha’ event in Karur on September 17. This grand celebration honors the birth anniversaries of social reformer Periyar E.V. Ramasamy and Anna, plus the DMK’s founding in 1949.
Introduced by former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, the event should be a massive hit, Nehru said. "Every worker must pitch in to make it successful—it’s our chance to show DMK’s unity and strength ahead of the 2026 polls." He described it as a vital rallying point, like a parade of the party’s organizational power and ideological fire, and insisted no one should miss it.
