Itanagar – On Tuesday, Lieutenant General Abhijit S. Pendharkar, the commander of the Indian Army’s Spear Corps, toured forward posts in Arunachal Pradesh. He was there to check on “Operation Chaukas,” a key border‑security initiative, and to see how the troops were preparing for the upcoming tri‑service drill called “Poorvi Prachand Prah — Poorvi Front Surge.”
During his visit, the general met soldiers in the high‑altitude areas, praised their courage and professionalism, and thanked them for staying ready even in cold, stormy weather. He said the soldiers’ hard work reflects the spirit and resilience that define every Indian soldier.
“Interoperability and joint training are essential,” Pendharkar noted. “We need to keep our forces working together, across land, air and sea, so we can respond quickly to any threat.” That message set the tone for the upcoming exercise, which will bring together the Army, Navy and Air Force in the Mechuka region of Arunachal Pradesh.
Exercise Poorvi Prachand Prah will test multi‑domain integration in one of the world’s toughest terrains. Commanders will conduct operations that combine special forces, drones, missile‑precision weapons and networked command centres under realistic, high‑altitude conditions. The drill aims to sharpen situational awareness, validate command‑and‑control systems and prove that the Indian Armed Forces can fight together across all domains.
“It’s a forward‑looking exercise designed to keep our forces sharp for any conflict that may arise,” said Defence Spokesman Lt Col Mahendra Rawat. “Revised tactics and procedures will be tried out to boost our combat agility and adaptability.”
This will be the latest milestone in India’s push for jointness after earlier drills like Exercise Bhala Prah (2023) and Exercise Poorvi Prah (2024). Together, these exercises reinforce the Army’s, Navy’s and Air Force’s collective resolve to protect India’s eastern borders and maintain peak mission readiness.
