Trinamool has turned Bengal’s govt institutions into party-controlled ecosystem: BJP

Kolkata, Oct. 22 – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has turned West Bengal’s public institutions into a “party‑controlled ecosystem” during the 14 years of Mamata Banerjee’s rule.

BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya posted the claim on social media after a woman doctor was attacked in a state‑run hospital in Howrah. The doctor says a home‑guard, who is close to the ruling party, threatened her with rape.

Malviya compared the incident to the 2023 case involving Dr. R.G. Kar, where Sanjay Roy, a convicted rapist and murderer, was a civic volunteer—an auxiliary post similar to a home‑guard—attached to Kolkata Police. He calls these volunteers “unaccountable, arrogant and reckless” and states that they are essentially Trinamool employees in uniform.

In the Howrah case, the accused is Sheikh Babulal, a traffic home‑guard with the Uluberia Traffic Guard and a “local Trinamool strongman.” Police have arrested Babulal and two others. Malviya accused the ruling party of shielding such offenders.

Opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari also posted a comment on the same day, saying crimes like these happen because people “feel protected” by TMC leaders. He slammed the government for not protecting doctors, and called for Mamata Banerjee to step down.

Both sides blame the TMC for a culture of impunity in West Bengal’s public institutions.
