Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha showed his quick thinking on Saturday when he stopped his convoy right after spotting a road accident. He was heading to Kamalghat to kick off a Durga Puja pandal inauguration.
The crash happened between an auto-rickshaw and a bike on the road. Luckily, the bike rider only suffered minor injuries and got away without serious harm, according to the Chief Minister’s Office.
As Durga Puja ramps up in Tripura, state police are stepping up big time for safety. Director General of Police Anurag Dhankar shared that they’ve deployed around 8,000 extra officers, including Tripura State Rifles personnel, across the state to keep things secure.
Dhankar stressed that these Durga Puja security arrangements in Tripura will be rock-solid. Officers have teamed up with the Border Security Force for joint patrols in sensitive border zones. Some police will even work in plain clothes, with mobile teams, fixed checkpoints, foot patrols, and CCTV cameras watching key spots.
Talking to on Friday, Dhankar said: “Around 3,000 pujas will take place in Tripura. For this, Tripura Police has made extensive arrangements. Around 8,000 additional police and TSR personnel are being deployed. Police personnel will also be deployed in plain clothes. There will be mobile patrolling, fixed pickets, foot patrolling, and CCTV coverage. We have coordinated with BSF along the border areas. We will do joint patrolling with them. So, I assure everyone that our security arrangements will be foolproof.”
The vibrant Durga Puja festival runs from September 29 to October 2, with nearly 3,000 community events lighting up Tripura. State officials have boosted these measures to make sure everyone enjoys a safe and smooth celebration.
