Actor Vijay, the charismatic star turned politician and chief of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), kicks off his big statewide campaign tour today in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. This marks the start of his push for the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections, and excitement is buzzing in the city as TVK supporters deck the streets with banners and flags celebrating their leader.
Vijay’s tour will cover every district in Tamil Nadu, with a series of public meetings to connect directly with people. TVK General Secretary Anand released a statement packed with clear guidelines to keep things smooth, safe, and disciplined. He urged party workers and the public to follow them strictly for the tour’s success.
Key rules include: No chasing Vijay’s vehicle on two-wheelers or other rides—safety first! Vulnerable folks like pregnant women, seniors, school kids, people with disabilities, and those with health issues should skip the crowds and tune in live from home. Ditch the firecrackers and fancy receptions to avoid chaos. Park vehicles smartly without blocking traffic or bothering locals.
Anand stressed maintaining law and order—no rude talk or rowdy behavior. Respect safety zones around government buildings, electricity poles, transformers, and statues. Make way for ambulances, students, women, elders, and everyday commuters during events, and wrap up peacefully once meetings end. Oh, and stick to the High Court order: No unauthorized banners, arches, or flagpoles on highways or public roads.
“Party cadres and the public must cooperate fully with district organizers to make our leader’s people-focused tour a hit,” Anand added.
This launch comes amid some recent buzz. Back on August 27, police in Kannum filed a case against Vijay and his security team after a supporter, Sarathkumar, complained of rough handling by the bouncers at the Perambalur District SP office. Charges were slapped under three sections.
On a brighter note, BJP Tamil Nadu chief K. Annamalai welcomed Vijay’s political plunge on August 22, saying even though their ideologies clash, his entry shakes up the scene.
Vijay himself fired up the crowd at a massive rally in Madurai earlier, declaring the 2026 polls will pit his TVK against the ruling DMK. “Our top priority? Safety for women, elders, and kids. A TVK government will stand by farmers, youth, transgender folks, lonely seniors, and people with disabilities—it’s all about care,” he said. He made it clear TVK isn’t just another power grab; it’s a fresh force. “BJP is our only ideological foe, and DMK our political rival.”
With TVK launching in 2024, Vijay aims to carve out a strong third front in Tamil Nadu politics, challenging both DMK and AIADMK. The 2026 state elections are just around the corner, and all eyes are on how this actor-politician’s campaign unfolds.
