Actor and Tamil Nadu politician Vijay, president of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), is all set to kick off his much-anticipated statewide tour in September. This campaign aims to connect directly with people across Tamil Nadu, especially in the politically important delta region.
According to party sources, Tiruchy (Tiruchirappalli) is likely to host the first part of the tour, which will last about a week and cover nearly 10 districts. Vijay announced this tour last month during TVK’s second state conference in Madurai, promising to bring his political message straight to the grassroots.
The campaign will resemble traditional mass contact programs used by big Dravidian parties, featuring roadshows and street-level meetings. These efforts are designed to reach ordinary people in towns and villages, helping Vijay build a stronger connection with voters.
Tiruchy is a strategic choice for launching the tour. Known as the heart of Tamil Nadu’s political scene, the city also holds historical significance as the cradle of the ancient Chola empire. Party leaders see this as a powerful symbolic move to inspire regional pride and cultural identity.
To make the campaign more impressive, TVK has prepared a special luxury bus equipped with modern facilities. The bus will serve as the main campaign vehicle, traveling through various towns and villages while Vijay interacts with supporters.
Beyond the delta region, the tour is expected to include trips to Namakkal and Erode in western Tamil Nadu. These areas, part of the Kongu region, are key strongholds for the party, and TVK wants to make a strong impression there too.
After completing the delta leg, the party plans to hold a large public rally in western Tamil Nadu. This event will showcase TVK’s organizational strength and mark the official start of its full-scale election campaign for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
This tour is seen as a crucial step for Vijay, who aims to turn his popularity as a movie star into a powerful political movement. With preparations heating up, all eyes are on how this campaign will shape Tamil Nadu’s political future.
