Explosions in Punjab’s Bathinda Village Injure Father-Son Duo While Handling Explosive Material
In a shocking incident in Jida village near Bathinda, Punjab, two people—a young law student and his father—suffered injuries from separate explosions on September 10. Officials confirmed the blasts happened while they handled explosive material, sparking a full police investigation.
The victims are 19-year-old Gurpreet, a law student, and his father, Jagtar Singh. Gurpreet got seriously hurt in the first explosion around 6 a.m. when he tried assembling the flammable substances. He was quickly taken to a hospital for treatment. Later that day, at about 4 p.m., Jagtar Singh faced a second blast while attempting to get rid of the leftover material, adding to the chaos in the quiet village.
Bathinda’s Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Amneet Kondal, shared details with on Friday. "Gurpreet had been watching online videos and buying items to create something explosive," she explained. "The first blast hit when he was experimenting, and his father got caught in the second one during cleanup." Police have registered a case under relevant laws, and a bomb disposal squad is now working to secure the site so investigators can gather more evidence.
