In Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath kicked off the Namo Yuva Run on Sunday, spotlighting health initiatives and the dream of a stronger India during the ongoing Sewa Pakhwada program.
Yogi Adityanath spoke to a crowd of young people at the event, explaining how Sewa Pakhwada runs from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday on September 17 to Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday on October 2. “This period focuses on health and getting youth involved,” he said. The program includes a blood donation camp, drawing participants from all over the country. Yogi added that PM Modi’s vision ties women’s health to the well-being of the younger generation, helping the whole nation push forward toward a developed India.
He also touched on PM Modi’s pledges during the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence celebrations. “Modi urged us to honor our heritage, respect our armed forces, and step up with honest civic duties,” Yogi noted. Inspired by that, leaders across India commit to building a self-reliant nation.
Yogi stressed that good health forms the base of self-reliance. He linked it to popular drives like World Yoga Day on June 21, the Khelo India sports program, and the Fit India Movement. “Everyone wants to contribute to their village or region,” he said. “Joining these health efforts, including ration programs, keeps us strong.” These initiatives promote fitness awareness through yoga and sports competitions.
The Namo Yuva Run plays a big role in this push for youth health. Yogi warned about the risks of drug abuse, saying, “When young people join fitness programs like this run, the country advances. But drugs lead straight to ruin.” The event, part of Sewa Pakhwada, started on September 17 and wraps up on October 2.
The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) rolled out the Namo Yuva Run as a nationwide campaign to spread fitness and social messages. Supermodel and fitness star Milind Soman serves as its ambassador. It ties into PM Modi’s 75th birthday festivities.
Organizers plan to host the run in 75 cities, with more than 10,000 people joining on September 21. This youth-focused drive highlights anti-drug efforts and health promotion across India.
