UP is an integral part of India, not ‘Mini Pakistan’: SP MP rejects Ramabhadracharya’s remark

SP MP Harendra Malik Slams ‘Mini Pakistan’ Remark on Meerut, Calls for Unity in Uttar Pradesh

In a sharp response to a controversial statement, Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Harendra Malik has hit out at Jagadguru Ramabhadracharya for calling Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut region a "Mini Pakistan" during a religious event. Malik, speaking from Muzaffarnagar, brushed off the remark as just one man’s view and nothing more.

"We were born here, we live here—this place is fully part of India," Malik said firmly. "Everyone here is Indian, whether Hindustani or Bharatiya. These words don’t match the truth of our region."

Malik didn’t stop there. He also rejected Baba Bageshwar’s push for turning India into a "Hindu Rashtra," stressing that SP sticks to the Constitution. "We don’t back any talk that goes against it," he added. India, he pointed out, is a secular country where Hindus and Muslims have shared peaceful lives for ages. Divisive comments like these hurt social harmony, and Malik urged the government to act tough to stop them.

He raised eyebrows about the timing too. "These statements pop up right before elections," Malik noted. "It feels like a political plot to spark Hindu-Muslim clashes." Such moves, he warned, could tarnish Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s image and the state government’s efforts. "Western UP runs on respect, not force," Malik emphasized.

On other fronts, Malik stayed out of the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) and BJP’s separate runs in district panchayat polls. "That’s their internal issue," he said simply.

Turning to Nepal’s recent unrest, Malik opposed any coups but praised the people’s stand against oppression. "It’s a wake-up call for all nations," he said. "I tell the Indian government: Don’t push citizens too hard, or they might hit the streets." He wrapped up with a strong plea: "We hope India never sees riots—they only damage us. The government must protect everyone’s constitutional rights."
