Yogi Adityanath Meets ABVP Leaders in Lucknow Over Barabanki Lathicharge Case
In a key meeting at his official residence in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath sat down with top officials from the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Sunday. The discussion zeroed in on the recent lathicharge incident at Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University in Barabanki, along with ideas for boosting educational reforms in the state.
ABVP leaders who joined the one-hour chat included Ghanshyam Shahi, the Eastern Region Organisation Minister; Manoj Nikhra from the Western Region; National Minister Ankit Shukla; and National Executive Member Srishti Singh. They shared their views on the Barabanki lathicharge case and pushed for steps to create a better learning environment in Uttar Pradesh.
This comes right after ABVP staged strong protests across districts like Lucknow and Barabanki. The student group was furious about the police lathicharge on students at the university and called for quick action from the local administration. During the meeting, the ABVP team highlighted these concerns and offered practical suggestions to stop such events from happening again.
Yogi Adityanath paid close attention to their ideas. He pointed out the big strides Uttar Pradesh has made in improving education quality over the last few years. The Chief Minister promised that his government stands firm on protecting student rights and maintaining high standards in schools and colleges. He added that the state is working hard to bring more transparency and accountability into the education sector.
The Chief Minister’s Office shared a photo of the meeting on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle. The post noted: "Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad officials made a courtesy call on CM Yogi in Lucknow today. On this occasion, Ghanshyam Shahi (Organisation Minister, Eastern Region), Manoj Nikhra (Organisation Minister, Western Region), Ankit Shukla (National Minister) and Srishti Singh (National Executive Member) were present. The officials of Vidyarthi Parishad discussed the remarkable improvements in the educational level of the state in the past years with the CM and discussed in detail with a view to further improving the educational environment, and also presented their important suggestions."
This meeting shows the Uttar Pradesh government’s focus on student issues and educational reforms, especially amid ongoing ABVP protests against the Barabanki lathicharge.
