Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami made a strong statement on Sunday about his government’s dedication to keeping literature and culture alive in the state. Speaking at the Uttarakhand Long-Term Literature Service Honour Ceremony in Dehradun, he praised the Uttarakhand Bhasha Sansthan for its key role in boosting Hindi and other Indian languages.
“Our government works tirelessly to preserve and promote literature and culture,” Dhami said. He pointed out how the state supports senior writers through awards like Uttarakhand Sahitya Gaurav Samman, Sahitya Bhushan, and Lifetime Achievement Award. At the same time, they encourage fresh talent by offering grants for publishing books in Hindi and various other languages.
The event took place on Hindi Diwas at the IRDT Auditorium in Dehradun. Hindi Diwas falls on September 14 every year, celebrating the day India adopted Hindi as one of its official languages back in 1949. This special day brings people together, highlighting how Hindi connects India’s diverse cultures and communities.
Dhami’s focus on literature promotion comes amid other development moves. Just two days earlier, on September 12, he approved Rs 3.81 crore for widening a key road from Government Primary School in Bhagwanpur to Government Inter College in Lamachaur, linking it to the main Kaladhungi road in Nainital district’s Kaladhungi assembly constituency.
In Bageshwar district, he greenlit Rs 4.73 crore for the Bodi Dhuraphat Pumping Scheme. This funding will finish pending works and upgrade pumps and motors to energy-efficient centrifugal sets.
Over in Haridwar, Dhami sanctioned Rs 7.07 crore to build a new Prosecution Department Divisional Directorate office and central malkhana at Roshnabad. He also okayed releasing 40% of the funds right away as the first installment.
These steps show Uttarakhand’s push for cultural growth alongside infrastructure improvements, making the state a vibrant hub for Hindi literature and regional development.
