Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami cracked down on slow responses to public complaints Friday, slamming delays in the CM Helpline 1905 and ordering quicker fixes across government departments.
In a meeting at the state secretariat in Dehradun, Dhami learned about a frustrating case: Sakshi, a student at Shri Dev Suman University in Tehri, still hasn’t received her degree even after filing a complaint through the helpline. The chief minister voiced his anger over the holdup and told the IT Secretary and Higher Education Secretary to dig into it right away. He wants a full report in one week and tough action against the officer at fault. Plus, Sakshi should get her degree within seven days.
Dhami laid out clear steps to speed things up. He called for help desks at universities and colleges to handle student grievances on the spot. Offices must post details of services under the Right to Service Act on their notice boards. For everyday issues like electricity, water supply, roads, and other basic needs, complaints hitting the CM Helpline 1905 need fast resolutions. Officers have to list their availability days publicly too.
During the review, Dhami chatted directly with some complainants and pushed officials to sort out their problems without delay. He stressed giving top priority to folks hit by disasters. All District Magistrates must check the helpline weekly, secretaries do it twice a month, and the Chief Secretary reviews monthly. To tackle backlogs, clear any cases pending over three months through special drives.
Dhami urged District Magistrates to hold regular public meetups for better grievance resolution in Uttarakhand. Officers who miss deadlines face accountability. He also pushed for urgent repairs on disaster-damaged power lines and protective walls, with quick reports on progress.
The chief minister made it clear: A complaint counts as resolved only if the person raising it feels fully satisfied. Every department must send a monthly status update on all CM Helpline 1905 cases to his office by the 5th.
ITDA Director Gaurav Kumar shared stats from the meeting, highlighting that water supply, home affairs, and the energy sector top the list of complaints in Uttarakhand. ()
