In Dehradun, Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami showed his strong commitment to the state’s youth amid the ongoing CBI probe into the UKSSSC exam paper leak. Speaking on Wednesday, Dhami declared he’s willing to bow down—or even sacrifice his position—if it helps the younger generation. “For the welfare of our youth, I can bow my head—and if needed, I can sacrifice it too,” he told a gathering.
Dhami didn’t hold back when accusing certain groups of stirring trouble. He claimed some unnamed actors are exploiting the student protests over the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSSC) exam to disrupt law and order. “They’re using the youth as a shield to create unrest in the state for political gains,” he added.
The chief minister highlighted how his government acted fast on the scandal. As soon as news of the paper leak surfaced, officials arrested the suspects and set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by a retired High Court judge to dig into the entire process. That SIT is already hard at work.
To fight back against cheating, Uttarakhand rolled out the country’s toughest anti-cheating law. This move has made recruitment drives more transparent and cracked down on the cheating mafia. In the last four years alone, over 25,000 young people have landed government jobs thanks to these efforts. Dhami also revealed that more than 100 members of the cheating mafia—people who turned fraud into a business under past governments—now sit behind bars.
This all comes after Dhami recommended a CBI probe into the UKSSSC exam leak just days earlier, during a visit to the Parade Ground protest site in Dehradun. Responding to demands from protesting students, he assured them the government would push for the central investigation without any hurdles. “Since the youth are asking for a CBI inquiry, we’ll recommend it,” he said at the time.
Dhami went a step further by personally showing up at the protest spot unannounced last week. He wanted to listen directly to their frustrations and pain, making it clear the government stands with them. Over the past four years, his administration has handled more than 25,000 recruitments with full transparency—and this is the only case drawing complaints. Dhami stressed his goal: wipe out any doubt or suspicion among the youth to build trust in the system.
