Vijay to kick off TVK’s first election campaign from Tiruchi today

Tamil actor Vijay, now a rising political force, is all set to kick off his Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) party’s first major election campaign tour from Tiruchi on Saturday. This launch comes as the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections heat up, and it’s already generating buzz among supporters.

The action starts with a lively public rally in Ariyalur, right after Vijay travels from Tiruchirapalli. Fans are excited to hear him speak directly about his vision for the state.

Vijay’s team has pulled out all the stops with a custom campaign bus. It’s decked out with high-tech cameras, powerful loudspeakers, and sturdy iron railings to keep things secure and stop any unauthorized entries. The bus rolled out from Panayur on Thursday evening, heading to Tiruchi, while Vijay himself flew in earlier today to join the action.

To amp up the energy, TVK just revealed its new campaign logo. It sports catchy slogans like “Your Vijay, I Will Not Fail” and “Tamil Nadu, Vijay’s Legacy Returns.” These lines aim to spotlight Vijay’s strong leadership and connect with voters on a personal level.

Police have given the green light for the rally, but with some strict rules in place. They’ve laid down 25 guidelines to keep everything safe and orderly—no big roadshows, limited receptions, and only five vehicles allowed to trail the campaign bus. Party workers need to arrive at Ariyalur’s old bus stand by 11:25 a.m., and TVK has to set up its own barricades for crowd control. If anyone breaks these rules, authorities can shut down the event on the spot.

Why Tiruchi? Political watchers say it’s no ordinary spot—it’s a powerhouse of Tamil Nadu politics. Back in the day, former Chief Minister M.G. Ramachandran picked this city for AIADMK’s second state conference. He unveiled his famous nutritious meal scheme there and even called Tiruchi the state’s “second capital.” DMK founder C.N. Annadurai also turned to Tiruchi to decide if his party should jump into elections, cementing its role in Dravidian history.

The rally spot at Marakkadai has seen its share of big moments too. Just recently, AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami held a campaign event nearby, at the MGR statue. It’s clear Tiruchi remains a hotbed for political drama and symbolism.

Vijay’s fans are betting big on this Tiruchi launch as a game-changer for Tamil Nadu politics. Could it shake up the 2026 Assembly election scene? Only time will tell, but one thing’s for sure—this is Vijay stepping boldly into the arena.
