Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared warm greetings with the nation on the fifth day of Shardiya Navratri, a vibrant Hindu festival honoring Goddess Durga. This special day focuses on Maa Skandamata, one of her powerful forms that embodies motherhood and compassion.

In a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter), Modi wrote: “On this Navratri, today we bow our heads in reverence to Devi Maa! May her grace instil confidence in everyone’s life. May all devotees receive the Mother’s blessings.” His words highlight the festival’s spirit of devotion and hope.

Maa Skandamata, the fifth avatar of Goddess Durga, connects to the Vishuddha Chakra, representing purity and clear thinking. Devotees turn to her to ease stress and hardships, seeing her as a symbol of love, empathy, and nurturing care. Often depicted riding a fierce lion with her son Kartikeya in her lap and lotus flowers in her hands, she guides followers toward spiritual growth and everyday success.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also joined the celebrations, posting on X: “On the fifth day of Shardiya Navratri, we pray to Mother Skandamata, the fifth form of Adi Shakti Maa Durga, that she continue to shower her grace upon the entire animate and inanimate world. May Mother’s blessings pave the way for the progress and prosperity of all.” His message underscores the festival’s role in seeking blessings for a brighter future.

Across India, enthusiastic devotees flock to temples to worship Maa Skandamata. They offer fresh flowers—her favorite—along with fruits, prayers, and special yellow or saffron-colored bhog items like sweets and dishes. These rituals aim to invite her protection, guidance, and well-being into their lives.

Shardiya Navratri, meaning “nine nights” in Sanskrit, runs for nine days and nights, celebrating Goddess Durga’s victory over evil through her nine forms, known as Navdurga. From dances and feasts to fasting and family gatherings, the festival brings communities together in joy and reverence, especially during this 2025 edition.
