In a heartwarming event in New Delhi, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta joined hands with ambassadors and high commissioners from over 70 countries for a special tree plantation drive. This was all part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popular initiative, Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam, which encourages everyone to plant a tree in honor of their mother.

The drive took place right in the heart of the capital, where diplomats rolled up their sleeves and planted saplings as a tribute to the unbreakable bond of motherhood. It was a beautiful mix of environmental conservation and family love, turning a simple act into a global celebration.

CM Gupta couldn’t hold back her emotions as she spoke about the event. “Maa will always be Maa—a symbol of pure love for people everywhere,” she said. “Today, I saw the deep impact of PM Modi’s touching mission, Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam. It’s inspiring hearts worldwide, urging us to honor our mothers and our motherland. These ambassadors from different countries held up nameplates of their moms while planting trees. This isn’t just about going green—it’s about keeping the memory of Maa alive. Together, we’ll make Delhi lusher and full of life.”

Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa also jumped in, highlighting how the initiative ties into PM Modi’s birthday celebrations as Sewa Pakhwada—a two-week period of service. “We’re marking PM Modi’s birthday with this amazing Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign, and it brought in folks from 72 countries,” Sirsa shared. “Ambassadors and dignitaries traveled to India just to plant trees, showing the huge global pull of PM Modi’s call. The emotions ran high—one ambassador even teared up, saying her mom passed away a year ago, and this felt like a meaningful way to remember her. Another brought his actual mother along, and yet another came with the whole family.”

Sirsa wrapped up by thanking PM Modi, CM Gupta, and Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav for sparking this inspiring movement. “These stories show the world’s respect for PM Modi’s vision and our shared promise to protect nature,” he added. “It’s truly special, and I’m grateful to everyone involved.”

The Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam initiative continues to gain momentum, blending eco-friendly actions with heartfelt tributes, and it’s already making waves in tree plantation drives across India and beyond.
