A woman in Kolkata has died under mysterious circumstances, leaving neighbors shocked and police probing for answers.
Namita Pal, a longtime resident of Chittaranjan Colony in Baghajatin, was found dead on Sunday while cleaning her home. She lived alone on the ground floor of a house in ward number 102 of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation.
Locals say Pal was wiping the area behind her refrigerator with a wet cloth when she let out a sudden shriek. Neighbors rushed over and discovered her on the floor, writhing in pain. She soon went still and passed away right there.
What caught everyone’s attention was a strange black mark on her hand, sparking fears of foul play. “She was so friendly and chatted with us just this morning,” one neighbor shared, still reeling from the loss.
Jadavpur police station officers arrived quickly, recovered the body, and sent it for autopsy. A senior officer told reporters: “It looks like electrocution at first glance, but that black mark has us checking for any suspicious activity. We’ll know more from the autopsy report.”
