In Delhi on Sunday, the Ministry of Women and Child Development pulled off a milestone that earned them a national award for their work on PM JANMAN, the Prime Minister’s campaign to boost the lives of 75 Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG) across 18 states and a union territory.
The accolade came after the ministry activated more than 2,000 Anganwadi centres—community child‑care hubs—in remote tribal lands, turning them into fully functioning sites that help families with health, nutrition and early education.

In a proud moment, Secretary Anil Malik accepted the award from President Droupadi Murmu during the “Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan” conclave on October 17. The event highlighted how the Anganwadi network is empowering local people, especially at the last mile.

PM JANMAN was launched on November 15, 2023, with a clear goal: within three years, improve the living standards of PVTG people by delivering safe homes, clean water, better schools, health care, road links, telecom, electrification and job‑creating programmes. The plan is backed by nine ministries and a budget of ₹24,104 crore, split between central (₹15,336 crore) and state (₹8,768 crore) funding.

State partners have set up outreach camps to help tribal families gather essential documents—Aadhaar cards, caste certificates, Jan Dhan bank accounts—so they can claim benefits from schemes such as Ayushman, PM Awas and MNREGA.

President Murmu praised the government’s “concrete steps” for tribal development at the conclave. She emphasized that progress depends on uplifting every community—not just giving money but creating real opportunities in education, health, jobs, skills training and public decision‑making.
During the same ceremony, she awarded top performers among states, districts, blocks and Integrated Tribal Development Agencies, underscoring India’s commitment to inclusive, citizen‑led governance.

These achievements signal a strong focus on tribal welfare, showing how coordinated government action and ground‑level support can lift thousands of families out of poverty and build stronger, healthier communities.
