New Delhi, Oct 19 – The India‑Australia joint military drill AUSTRAHIND 2025 is in full swing at the Bindoon Training Area in Western Australia. Indian and Australian troops are busy with physical training, yoga, live‑fire exercises and tactical drills, showing off how the two armies can work together.
The current (fourth) edition of AUSTRAHIND kicked off on Oct 13 at Irwin Barracks in Perth. The opening ceremony highlighted the goal of improving interoperability and operational readiness so that both forces can conduct company‑level operations in urban and semi‑urban settings.
About 120 Indian soldiers are in Australia right now for the exercise, which runs until Oct 26. The High Commission in Canberra welcomed the troops, saying the drill will strengthen defence cooperation and build camaraderie and trust between the Indian Army and the Australian Army.
AUSTRAHIND 2025 focuses on joint operations in open and semi‑desert terrain as well as urban areas. Troops practice joint planning, tactical drills and special‑arms skills, giving them a chance to hone operational abilities and integrate new technologies. The drill also lets both sides exchange tactics, techniques and procedures in sub‑conventional warfare.
Overall, the exercise underscores the deepening partnership between India and Australia, building a stronger military alliance and showcasing the growing defence ties between the two nations.
