In Tashkent, India’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Smita Pant, spent the past week deepening ties with Uzbek higher‑education institutions and showcasing Indian technology.

Bukhara State University visit
Mrs. Pant stopped by Bukhara State University, where she met Rector Obidjon Khamidov to talk about new science and training links. She then spoke at a university seminar on “Intelligent Learning Platforms and Automated Systems,” stressing how smart tech can boost classroom education.

Focus on girls’ education
Earlier in the week, Pant joined a celebration of the International Day of the Girl Child at Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies. The ambassador highlighted India’s “Save the Girl Child” and “Educate the Girl Child” campaigns, encouraging more support for girls’ schooling in Uzbekistan.

Tech showcase from the Indian Army
On October 9, she presented advanced software developed by the Indian Army Training Team to staff at the University of Military Security and Defence. The demonstration underscored India’s commitment to help Uzbekistan grow in IT, AI, and Cyber Security and further cemented the two‑country partnership.

Long‑standing ties
India was the first country to recognise Uzbek independence, signing a diplomatic protocol in 1992. In 2011, both sides declared a Strategic Partnership, launching ongoing dialogue mechanisms to keep the relationship active.

These visits and talks highlight how India and Uzbekistan are working together in education, technology, and security, building on a history of cooperation that began more than twenty‑five years ago.
