Tehran, Oct 19 – Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) revealed upgraded versions of two of its home‑grown ballistic missiles, Emad and Qadr, along with new launchers that were damaged in the 12‑day war with Israel. The announcement came during a video report by state‑run IRIB TV that toured two IRGC missile bases.
Both missiles sit under the IRGC’s Aerospace Forces banner. The Qadr missile now includes advanced anti‑electronic‑warfare equipment, making it harder for enemies to jam its targeting systems. A senior IRGC Aerospace commander, speaking anonymously for security, said the force’s missile reach is “growing every hour” and that the upgraded lock‑and‑load launchers are ready to fire on command.
The upgrade follows severe setbacks in early June when Israel launched surprise airstrikes that hit several Iranian nuclear and military facilities in Tehran. The strikes killed senior commanders, nuclear scientists, and civilians. Among the casualties were the head of IRGC intelligence, Mohammad Kazemi, and his deputy Hassan Mohaghegh, as well as several top military leaders, including Chief of Staff Mohammad Bagheri, IRGC chief commander Hossein Salami, Khatam al‑Anbiya HQ head Gholam‑Ali Rashid, and IRGC Aerospace Division chief Amir Ali Hajizadeh. Other named casualties included Mahmoud Bagheri, Davoud Sheikhian, Mohammad‑Bagher Taherpour, Mansour Safarpour, Masoud Tayyeb, Khosrow Hassani, Javad Jorsara, and Mohammad Aghajafari.
In response, Iran launched a series of missile and drone strikes that damaged Israeli assets and caused casualties. The two sides eventually reached a ceasefire on June 24.
The new Emad and Qadr missiles bolster Iran’s ballistic capabilities, reinforcing its strategic posture amid ongoing regional tensions.
