Israel’s Prime Minister’s Office kicked off a bold public awareness campaign in New York this week, spotlighting the horrors of the October 7 Hamas terror attack. The effort comes right before Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu speaks at the United Nations General Assembly on Friday.
Large billboards and mobile trucks now dot the areas around the UN headquarters and bustling Times Square. They all carry the stark message “Remember October 7,” along with a QR code. Scanning it takes people to a website detailing the brutal atrocities from that deadly assault.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Prime Minister’s Office explained the push: “Ahead of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to the UN General Assembly, the Prime Minister’s Office and the PM’s Spokesperson’s unit have initiated a public diplomacy campaign in New York on dozens of huge billboards and trucks around the UN building and in Times Square.”
The displays remind viewers of Hamas’s violence and the group’s shocking brutality. They also highlight that 48 hostages remain captive in Gaza. Officials say the campaign aims to wake up world leaders and everyday people to these ongoing threats. It’s part of a bigger outreach effort during Netanyahu’s U.S. trip, which has ramped up Israel’s global messaging.
Netanyahu arrived in the U.S. on Thursday with his wife and jumped straight into meetings. He sat down with leaders like Argentina’s President Javier Milei, Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic, and Paraguay’s President Santiago Pena.
This isn’t Netanyahu’s first time addressing the UN amid the Israel-Hamas conflict. Last year, at the 79th UN General Assembly session, he made it clear: The war ends only if Hamas surrenders, drops its weapons, and frees all hostages. Otherwise, he vowed, Israel will keep fighting for “total victory” with no compromises.
He also stressed the need to take down Hezbollah in Lebanon, calling it one of the world’s top terror groups. And in a direct shot at Iran, Netanyahu warned that Israel’s reach knows no bounds—no corner of the country is safe from consequences.
As tensions simmer in the Middle East, this New York campaign underscores Israel’s push to keep the October 7 attack and the hostage crisis front and center on the world stage.
