Tirupati – Former BRS MLC K. Kavitha visited the famous Tirumala temple on Sunday to pray for her upcoming Telangana Jagruthi Padayatra that starts on October 25.
With her husband, D. Anil Kumar, she asked for divine blessings before she begins a four‑month trek across all 33 districts of Telangana. The plan is to meet voters, raise awareness about local issues, and gauge support for a new political movement called Telangana Jagruthi.
“We’re excited to visit Lord Sri Venkateswara Swamy,” Kavitha said to reporters after the darshan. “I’ve decided to launch the Telangana Jagruti Janam Bata programme on the 25th. I came here today for blessings and to pray for the people of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.”
The venture will be Kavitha’s first major public outing after she resigned from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) following her suspension last month. She cited “anti‑party activities” as the reason for her exit, though she says her comments about “Samajika Telangana” (social justice in Telangana) triggered the fall.
Kavitha is the daughter of former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR). Although her mother’s BRS had recently ousted her, Kavitha is now meeting leaders and strategists to shape her political future. She set the padayatra’s launch point at Nizamabad – a district where her in‑laws live and where she served as a Lok Sabha MP from 2014 to 2019.
During the poster launch, Kavitha clarified that she would not use any BRS or KCR images, saying it would be “morally wrong” to do so while she sits outside the party’s banner. She insists that the movement, dubbed Telangana Jagruthi, is about tangible social change, not just slogans.
The padayatra aims to shine a light on women’s empowerment, grassroots governance and whether the public appetite exists for a new political party. If successful, it could lay the groundwork for a unique political voice focused on “Samajika Telangana.”
