Shocking Stabbings Rock Australia: Man Killed in Targeted Attack Near Sydney
A tragic stabbing in eastern Australia has claimed the life of a 35-year-old man in what police call a targeted attack. The incident happened early Wednesday morning near the rural city of Grafton, about 490 km northeast of Sydney in New South Wales (NSW).
Emergency services rushed to the scene around 1 am local time after reports of an assault on a quiet street. Officers found the man, who had been stabbed by unknown attackers while walking alone. Paramedics tried to save him, but he sadly died right there. NSW Police confirmed it’s a targeted stabbing, and local detectives are now investigating with help from the state’s homicide squad. The area will stay cordoned off as a crime scene for a while, so expect some disruptions.
This heartbreaking event is part of a worrying wave of stabbing incidents in Australia. Just 11 days earlier, on September 6, two young boys lost their lives in another targeted attack in Melbourne’s western suburbs. It unfolded in Cobblebank, roughly 34 km west of the city center, shortly before 8 pm.
First responders arrived to find a 12-year-old boy with critical injuries. Despite CPR efforts, he passed away at the scene. Minutes later, police discovered a 15-year-old boy badly hurt on a nearby street. He too received treatment but didn’t survive. Victoria Police set up a crime scene and launched a homicide probe. They’re treating it as a targeted stabbing, and the investigation continues to uncover what led to this double tragedy.
Adding to the concerns, a teen now faces charges in a separate stabbing at a Sydney train station. On September 3, emergency crews responded to a call at Merrylands station, about 20 km west of central Sydney, around 5:15 pm. A 16-year-old boy had been attacked by two strangers he briefly interacted with. Paramedics treated him on-site before rushing him to the hospital in critical condition—he’s now recovering, but the scare was real.
NSW Police arrested a 17-year-old boy the next day after he walked into a station. He faces seven charges, including wounding with intent to cause serious harm, carrying a weapon to commit a crime, and using a knife in public. Bail was denied, and he’ll appear in children’s court soon. Cops are still digging into the details of this public stabbing incident.
These back-to-back stabbing attacks in Australia have raised alarms about public safety, especially in NSW and Victoria. Authorities urge anyone with information to come forward to help stop such violence. Stay tuned for updates as investigations unfold.
