Mauritius PM Navinchandra Ramgoolam to visit Varanasi today

Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam is landing in Varanasi today, kicking off an exciting part of his official state visit to India. The leader arrived in Mumbai on Tuesday to boost the strong ties between India and Mauritius, and now he’s heading to the spiritual heart of Uttar Pradesh.
He’ll touch down at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport in Varanasi, where Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and top state officials will give him a warm welcome. Ramgoolam plans to stay in the holy city from September 10 to 12, diving into its rich culture and traditions.
The big moment? A key bilateral meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Varanasi on September 11. This chat will focus on strengthening the Enhanced Strategic Partnership between the two nations, highlighting their deep diplomatic relations.
During his time in Varanasi, Ramgoolam will join some unforgettable spiritual activities. On September 12, he’ll visit the famous Kashi Vishwanath Temple. He’ll also catch the mesmerizing Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat—first from a special cruise on the Ganga River after the bilateral talks on September 11. After Varanasi, he’s off to Ayodhya to pay homage at the Ram Temple site.
Divisional Commissioner S. Rajalingam shared that everything is all set for this high-profile Mauritius PM visit to Varanasi. “Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam arrives in Kashi on September 10, and PM Modi will join on September 11 for their important discussions,” he confirmed.
This trip really shows the unbreakable cultural and historical bonds between India and Mauritius. Remember, Mauritius has a huge Indian-origin community, making these connections even stronger. It’s not Ramgoolam’s first time in India—he was the only non-SAARC leader invited to PM Modi’s 2014 swearing-in ceremony. Plus, PM Modi visited Mauritius in March this year for their 57th National Day celebrations.
After Varanasi and Ayodhya, Ramgoolam heads back to Mumbai for a business event. He’ll wrap up his India tour with a spiritual stop at Tirupati. Stay tuned for more updates on this Mauritius-India diplomatic visit!
