Anta Assembly bypoll: Total seizures valued at Rs 20.93 crore made to ensure fair and secure polls

Jaipur, Nov 11 – Baran Superintendent of Police Abhishek Andasu said Tuesday that the police have been on a multi‑day crackdown to keep the Anta Assembly by‑election fair and calm.
From 6 October to 11 November, Baran police targeted narcotics, illegal liquor and hidden cash. Their effort left a total of ₹20.93 crore in seized goods, a headline‑making haul that the SP said helps keep the vote process clean and transparent.
Police action stopped the smuggling of alcohol and drugs. Under the Excise Act, the police registered 65 cases and seized 675 litres of illicit liquor worth ₹3,03,410. Under the NDPS Act, six cases led to the recovery of 121.765 kg of narcotics worth ₹35,46,650. In addition, they confiscated ₹17,64,250 in cash and other items worth ₹20,37,86,500.
The crackdown continued during the so‑called “silence period,” the time after campaigning when polling stations are closed. The police kept a close watch to ensure no anti‑social behavior slipped through. They also seized 28 vehicles that were moving outside allowed areas in the Anta constituency, preventing the entry of people who could stir trouble or violate election rules.
Baran Police’s aggressive stance shows its strong commitment to a free, fair and peaceful election. The work in Rajasthan’s electoral district underscores how law enforcement can help safeguard democracy.
