A 15‑year‑old apprentice woodworking student in Turkey died after a coworker forced a high-pressure air hose—used to power tools and sand wood—inside his rectum as a cruel prank.
The boy, Muhammed Kendirci, was taken to Harran University Research and Application Hospital on Friday. Hospital staff said he died five days later from severe internal injuries.
Reports from the local news outlet Milliyet say that Kareh Aksoy and a friend overpowered Kendirci and tied his hands. The pair removed his pants and shoved the hose into his anus, inflicting fatal damage. Aksoy was first released on probation but was later detained again, though the exact charges remain unclear.
The incident is the latest in a disturbing pattern. A high-pressure air hose has killed two other teens in recent years. In 2023, a 16‑year‑old in India, Motilal Sahu, collapsed after a colleague inserted the hose into his butt for “fun” at a factory.
He died from internal injuries. Another case from 2017 involved 17‑year‑old car‑wash worker Wesner Moreira da Silva, who was crushed by an air hose that burst his intestines. Years later, the prankster and another co‑worker were convicted of murder and received long prison sentences.
These tragedies raise urgent questions about workplace safety and the use of compressed‑air equipment. They also highlight the need for stricter supervision and education to prevent such deadly pranks.
