Mann vs Burpees: Adventurer with cause, Mann Sharma announces historic World Book of Records attempt

Indian athlete Mann Sharma is gearing up for a groundbreaking challenge that could rewrite the books on human endurance. From October 6 to 15, he’ll tackle the world’s first Burpee Marathon at New Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Sharma plans to cover the full 42.195-kilometer marathon distance using only burpee broad jumps—a feat no one has ever tried before.

This official attempt with the World Book of Records highlights the power of physical and mental toughness. At the same time, Sharma aims to raise funds and awareness for The One Friend NGO, which helps underprivileged children in India get education and better opportunities. The Sports Authority of India backs the event, and Question Associates is organizing it alongside Fit India.

Sharma faces a massive hurdle. The current world record for burpee broad jumps sits at just 5.1 kilometers, so he’s pushing that limit almost eight times over. That means completing 106 laps around the 400-meter track while staying on-site for eight days straight. World Book of Records officials call it one of the boldest endurance challenges they’ve seen.

India’s Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya, cheered on the effort. “Mann Sharma embodies the spirit of Indian youth—resilient, fearless, and driven by purpose,” Mandaviya said. “His bold push isn’t just about his strength; it’s inspiring millions to break their own limits. By linking endurance with compassion, he’s showing how sports can drive real social change, spotlighting education for kids in need. The whole nation will rally behind him.”

Sharma shared his motivation too. “I take on these challenges to make a real difference, not just to test myself,” he explained. “Mann vs. Burpees is about giving hope to kids, proving no dream is too big. Every jump I make stands for their future—education, chances, and self-belief. I’m thankful for the sports minister and Fit India’s support. Together, we’re sparking a movement to inspire and empower the next generation.”

Abhishek Kaushik, national secretary of the World Book of Records, added, “This is one of the most daring endurance feats we’ve reviewed. Covering a marathon in burpee broad jumps would mark a huge milestone in human limits.”

Sharma’s path to this moment started on European soccer fields. He trained at top spots like Italy’s Paolo Rossi Academy and Spain’s Real Madrid Foundation Camp, even facing off against youth teams from Atletico Madrid and Getafe. Injuries and the COVID-19 pandemic derailed his pro soccer dreams, but Sharma pivoted to extreme endurance adventures.

His track record speaks volumes. He once ran 100 kilometers in 24 hours to help 600 homeless people. He powered through 29 hours of burpees for children’s education causes. Sharma walked 205 kilometers from Delhi to the Taj Mahal, carrying messages of hope from kids. And he conquered Bali’s three tallest peaks in a row, raising $100,000 to prevent suicides. Each effort turns his personal battles into positive impact, using endurance to fuel change for others.
