India’s Rising Star in Global Agri Exports: Can It Feed the World?
In a recent chat in Abu Dhabi, UAE, Allanasons Fauzan Alavi, a key figure in India’s agriculture export scene, shared his excitement about the country’s growing role on the world stage. As one of India’s oldest and largest agri export companies, they ship goods to nearly 70 countries. "India has so much to offer in the agri space," Alavi told . He believes New Delhi could easily become the world’s food basket, especially by tapping into massive markets like Africa.
Alavi pointed out that the agriculture sector is huge and full of potential. "From India, we can cater to Africa, which is a market we can’t even imagine yet," he said. He also addressed challenges like tariffs, adding that these issues will sort themselves out over time. "It’s a need for both nations, and things will get easier soon," he noted.
These optimistic words came right after a big meeting in Abu Dhabi on Thursday. Union Minister of Commerce Piyush Goyal and Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Managing Director of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), led the latest session of the India-UAE High Level Joint Task Force on Investments.
The talks covered key areas like boosting trade and investment flows, plus new ways for the two countries to team up. The co-chairs celebrated the strong growth in bilateral trade since the India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) kicked off in May 2022.
In the first half of 2025, non-oil trade between India and UAE hit almost USD 38 billion—a whopping 34% jump from the same period in 2024. This puts them on track for UAE’s ambitious 2030 trade goals.
Investment banker Praveen Kumar Jain echoed the positivity. "The CEPA and I2U2 initiatives will bring great benefits," he said. "Both governments are super enthusiastic, and we’ll definitely hit the targets set by Piyush Goyal."
The India-UAE CEPA stands as a strong pillar of their economic partnership, showing how two nations can collaborate smartly in today’s fast-changing global trade world. With India’s agri exports booming and ties with UAE strengthening, the future looks bright for both sides.
