On a recent trip to Tajikistan, Israel’s Tourism Minister Haim Katz made history by signing the country’s first Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on tourism with his counterpart, Jomkhodzoda Jamshad Jurhon. This new agreement aims to boost ties between Israel and Tajikistan while opening doors for more collaboration in the tourism sector.
The Israeli Tourism Ministry hailed the deal as a key step forward in relations with Tajikistan, a Central Asian nation with a Muslim-majority population. The two countries have built a solid foundation since 2013 through regular policy talks, focusing on areas like agriculture and rural development. But this marks their first MoU specifically targeting economic growth and tourism opportunities.
Katz emphasized how tourism acts as a bridge between nations. “Tourism brings unique chances for international cooperation,” he said. “Even in tough times, I’ve connected with leaders from countries where we lack formal ties, and they’ve welcomed us warmly. At the investment forum in Dushanbe, Israel earned real respect, showing the world how we turn challenges into wins.”
He added that Israel’s expertise in innovative tourism draws interest from around the globe. Attending global events like this one remains crucial right now, helping solidify Israel’s role on the world stage. (Tel Aviv, September 21 – /TPS)
