Deadly Israeli Strikes Rock Gaza City, Killing 65 Including Entire Family
Intense Israeli air and artillery attacks hammered Gaza on Friday, claiming at least 65 Palestinian lives, including 14 members of one family, as reported by Al Jazeera. The strikes have deepened the humanitarian crisis in the ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict, leaving families shattered and communities in fear.
Medical sources told Al Jazeera that 48 of these tragic deaths happened in Gaza City and the northern areas. The heartbreaking highlight came in Gaza City’s at-Twam neighborhood, where an Israeli airstrike demolished a family home, wiping out 14 relatives in an instant. Eyewitnesses described scenes of devastation, with rescuers digging through rubble to recover the victims.
Hamas, the Palestinian group, slammed the attacks as "terror and organized war crimes." They accused Israel of deliberately targeting civilians and residential buildings, violating international law. In a strong statement, Hamas pointed fingers at the global community for staying silent, saying it only emboldens Israel’s aggressive push for genocide and forced displacement in Gaza.
The violence didn’t stop there. In Gaza City’s Daraj neighborhood, an Israeli drone strike killed a young child and wounded several others, adding to the mounting toll of civilian casualties in the Israel-Palestine tensions.
On its side, the Israeli military shared on X (formerly Twitter) that it hit around 500 targets in Gaza City over the past week. Officials say these operations aim to push out nearly a million residents and secure control of the area. Back in August, Israel’s security cabinet greenlit Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s plan to occupy Gaza City—a decision that’s already forced tens of thousands to flee their homes amid the relentless bombardment.
Despite the chaos and repeated evacuation orders, Gaza’s Government Media Office revealed that over 1.3 million Palestinians, including 350,000 children, are still holding on in Gaza City and the north. Families face daily threats from airstrikes and artillery fire, highlighting the urgent need for peace in this volatile region.
As the Gaza conflict escalates, calls grow louder for international intervention to protect civilians and halt the cycle of violence. Stay tuned for updates on the latest developments in the Middle East.
