Israel’s military has shared new details about how it took out Hassan Nasrallah, the longtime leader of the Hezbollah militant group. Just before his death, Nasrallah holed up in a secret bunker built with help from Iran, but the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) tracked him down with pinpoint accuracy.
According to the IDF’s Intelligence Branch, Nasrallah spent his final days trying to rebuild Hezbollah’s strength and plot attacks against Israel. But the IDF quickly stopped every move, thanks to sharp intelligence work.
Years of careful spying gave the IDF a clear picture of the bunker’s location. Iran provided the tech to build it, and Hezbollah kept it ultra-secret—even from most insiders.
The strike happened exactly one year ago, on September 27, 2024, at 6:21 p.m. local time. As part of Operation New Order, Israel’s Air Force dropped 83 bombs in a coordinated assault, guided by the Military Intelligence Service. The target: an underground headquarters in Beirut, where Nasrallah and several top Hezbollah commanders were hiding. The precision airstrike wiped them out.
