Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal met with Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Ahmed bin Mohammed Al‑Sayed, on Tuesday to push ahead with stronger India‑Qatar trade and investment. “Looking forward to more engagement that will lift bilateral trade,” Goyal wrote on X, reminding readers of their August meeting in New Delhi when Al‑Sayed led a large Qatar investment delegation.

Earlier, Goyal held a productive session with Khalil Boutros Al‑Sholy, founder and managing director of CDC International. They discussed joint‑venture opportunities and ways to boost India’s footprint in Qatar’s infrastructure and development projects. Goyal shared the conversation on X with a photo of the two leaders.

The minister also addressed the Doha chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). In his post, he urged chartered accountants to strengthen professional‑services trade and deepen India‑Qatar economic ties. The message received strong support from the accounting community in Qatar.

Goyal met members of the Indian Business & Professionals Council (IBPC) in Qatar. He praised the council’s efforts to advance India‑Qatar relations and encouraged the vibrant Indian diaspora to explore new opportunities, form meaningful partnerships, and showcase India’s growing global strengths.

Later that day, the minister spoke with Badr Mohammed Al‑Meer, Group CEO of Qatar Airways. Goyal highlighted how aviation remains a key bridge in an expanding business and people‑to‑people relationship between the two nations. He called the meeting a step toward even stronger commercial connectivity.

Across the day, Piyush Goyal positioned India as a reliable trade ally and a prime partner for Qatar’s growing investment and aviation sectors. His series of meetings and posts on X signal a clear focus on building deeper, more diversified economic ties between India and Qatar.
