The United Arab Emirates’ Federal National Council (FNC) is set to join the 11th G20 Parliamentary Speakers Summit, known as the P20 Summit, in South Africa. This major event kicks off from September 29 to October 3, 2025, in the scenic town of Kleinmond. South Africa’s Parliament is hosting it alongside the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), with a focus on “Harnessing parliamentary diplomacy for global solidarity, equality, and sustainability.”
Before the main summit, the 2nd P20 Meeting of Women Parliamentarians will take place on September 29 and 30. It’s a key gathering to spotlight women’s roles in global issues.
Attendees at the P20 Summit will dive into four high-level sessions. These cover strengthening disaster resilience and responses, ensuring debt sustainability for low-income countries, mobilizing finance for a just energy transition, and harnessing critical minerals for inclusive growth and sustainable development.
The women parliamentarians’ meeting will tackle timely topics like gender mainstreaming in climate resilience and energy transition. It also highlights empowering women in economic decision-making and development planning, mobilizing resources for women-led agricultural and entrepreneurial projects, and boosting women’s political representation and leadership in legislative bodies.
This summit promises to bring together voices from around the world to push for real progress on sustainability, equality, and global cooperation.
