Pakistani air strikes kill three civilians, injure five in Balochistan

Deadly Pakistani Airstrike in Balochistan Kills Three Civilians, Including Women

In a shocking incident in Pakistan’s Balochistan province, Pakistani forces launched an aerial bombing raid on residential areas in the Zehri region, killing at least three civilians, including two women. Five others, including a four-year-old child, suffered injuries in the attack. This heartbreaking event unfolded late Wednesday night in the Terasani (Qazib) area of Khuzdar district, according to reports from the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), a prominent Baloch human rights group.

The BYC shared details in a statement, revealing that the military used jet fighters and drones to target homes where innocent people lived. "This is a serious breach of international humanitarian law," the group said. They pointed out that Zehri has seen at least three similar airstrikes and drone attacks by Pakistani forces in just the last two months. Local residents told the BYC that drones still buzz overhead, spreading fear and causing deep psychological trauma. Many families now live in constant dread, afraid of the next strike.

The Pakistani military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), claimed the victims were "insurgents." But the BYC called this a typical excuse to hide state violence against the Baloch people. They described the attack as part of a broader policy of collective punishment in Balochistan, where civilians face ongoing threats.

Adding to the crisis, the entire Khuzdar district, including Zehri, has endured a total internet shutdown for months. This communication blackout keeps the world in the dark about the humanitarian emergency in Balochistan. "Without independent media, the Pakistani state gets away with these atrocities, muffling survivors and grieving families," the BYC warned. They labeled the pattern of enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and now airstrikes as part of a larger "Baloch genocide" happening behind closed doors.

Another rights organization, Baloch Voice for Justice (BVJ), echoed these concerns, slamming the raid as "state terrorism." They stressed that the victims were everyday civilians, not fighters, and that using fighter jets and drones on unarmed people counts as a war crime. "This fits a disturbing trend of collective punishment," the BVJ said, noting how the internet blackout in Khuzdar hides these violations from global eyes.

The BVJ urged the United Nations and Amnesty International to step in, investigate the Pakistani forces’ actions, and end the silence on Balochistan’s human rights abuses. As tensions rise in the region, calls grow louder for international attention to protect civilians caught in the crossfire.
