Pakistani forces accused of killing Baloch civilian after one year of enforced disappearance

Quetta – November 29 (LatestNewsX) – A second Baloch civilian was reportedly killed by Pakistani forces outside the law, according to a prominent human‑rights group on Saturday. The incident adds to a troubling trend of extrajudicial executions, enforced disappearances and torture sweeping the province. The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) said that on the morning of November 28, a mutilated body identified as Abu Bakr Hasil was found in D‑Baloch, Kech district. The marks on the body pointed to severe torture, and the committee noted that Mr Hasil had vanished a year earlier. The committee claims that he was taken by military personnel from Gwadar on November 26, 2024, and that he was a modest resident who earned a living selling vegetables from a cart. “Abu Bakr’s death and the brutality inflicted on him are a clear illustration of the ongoing genocide against Baloch people, manifested through extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances and the targeted killing of innocent civilians,” the BYC said. The report went on to name another victim, 26‑year‑old Imran of Tump in Kech district, who was abducted the day before by a Pakistan‑backed death squad. He had been celebrating his wedding when armed men raided his home and took him into custody. “Imran’s family says the militants, in cooperation with law enforcement, called after detaining him and demanded a ransom of up to 20 million rupees for his release. When the family could only raise 7 million, the group still dumped his tortured body in Gomazi the next night,” the BYC added. The organization stated that this pattern of forced disappearance followed by extrajudicial killing underscores the sustained violence pumped into Balochistan by Pakistani forces. “This systematic campaign of collective punishment, backed by paramilitary units, shows a wider pattern of human‑rights abuse, including disappearances, torture and targeted killings, deepening the humanitarian crisis in the region,” the BYC concluded.
