In Balochistan, Pakistan, human rights groups report that Pakistani forces extrajudicially killed at least five Baloch civilians this week, fueling ongoing fears of persecution in the province.
The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), a key human rights organization, highlighted the case of Ustad Allah Dad, a resident of the Soler Ghichk area in Panjgur district. Pakistani forces forcibly disappeared him on September 16 in the Naag region of Washuk district. Four days later, on the night of September 20, locals found his mutilated body in Panjgur. “The body showed clear signs of severe physical torture and inhumane treatment, indicating he faced extreme punishment before his death,” the BYC said.
In a separate incident, the BYC detailed how another Baloch civilian, Tariq Hamza from Dasht Sholeeg in Gwadar district, died in what they call a staged encounter on September 19 in the Dasht area of Kech district. Forces had abducted Tariq on November 12, 2024, and his family got no answers despite repeated pleas for information. His body, marked by torture and bullet wounds, arrived at Civil Hospital Turbat alongside three other previously disappeared Baloch men, including Abdul Sattar. Frontier Corps personnel handled the transfer.
Paank, the human rights arm of the Baloch National Movement, slammed the killing of Allah Dad as a stark example of Pakistan’s state-backed terror, enforced disappearances, and what they describe as a systematic genocide against the Baloch people. His tortured body, dumped in Panjgur, underscores the brutality, they added.
Paank urged the Pakistani government to end these “barbaric practices” right away. They called for a thorough, unbiased investigation into the incident, swift prosecution of those responsible, and an end to the impunity that allows such human rights abuses to continue in Balochistan.
The group also pressed the international community to step up and hold Pakistan accountable for these violations, while backing the Baloch fight for justice and dignity.
