Tesla recalls over 63K Cybertrucks over parking light issue that could increase risk of crash
Tesla is pulling back more than 63,000 Cybertruck owners to fix a lighting issue that could blind other drivers.
The recall covers 2024‑2026 Cybertrucks that ran the 5.38.3 software build. Those units were built from November 13, 2023 to October 11, 2025.
Why it matters
The front parking lights can flash too brightly. The light output exceeds federal safety limits, which can distract oncoming traffic and raise the risk of a crash. Tesla’s own estimate says every one of the 63,619 vehicles has the defect.
What Tesla is doing
The company is offering a free over‑the‑air software update to bring the lights back within legal limits. No service visit is needed—drivers just need to connect to Wi‑Fi and allow the update.
What owners should know
Tesla will mail notification letters on December 13, 2025. After the reminder arrives, customers can check their Tesla app or contact the service center for the schedule.
For now, the bad lighting is the only issue flagged. Tesla has said the electric truck meets all other safety and performance standards.
