Russian forces launched an overnight air attack on Kyiv that killed three people and left 29 injured, including six children. The strike struck two high‑rise apartment blocks, setting the buildings ablaze.
Mayor Vitali Klitschko said on Telegram that seven of the wounded, two of whom were children, were taken to hospitals in the city. “Debris from the Russian air weapons fell onto a nine‑story building in the Desnianskyi district,” he added, describing a fire that spread quickly through several floors. The blaze was extinguished later in the night, but emergency crews rescued 13 people from the upper levels.
The attack followed a 90‑minute air‑raid warning period, which the Kyiv air force lifted at about 12:30 a.m. Despite the severity of the strike, both sides maintain that they avoid targeting civilians. Yet the conflict that began with Russia’s 2022 invasion has killed thousands of Ukrainians.
Kyiv’s residents now face another wave of destruction as the city and its surrounding region continue to cope with ongoing air attacks.
