Workers’ Party chief Pritam Singh was caught off‑guard when an Islamic preacher named Noor Deros burst into a party meeting before the recent election.

During a news briefing, Singh said he had never met Deros before the poll. “I didn’t know who Noor Deros was,” he told reporters. “When he showed up, he disrupted the whole meeting, and nobody knew what he was doing.”

The incident happened at a campaign event where workers’ party candidates were rehearsing speeches and reviewing their election strategy. Deros, who has not been on the public radar, entered the room suddenly, spoke for a few minutes, and then left without explanation. Police were called by the organizers, who described the encounter as a “gate crash” that shook the group.

Pritam Singh, a longtime leader of the Workers’ Party, said the preacher’s appearance was unexpected and raised questions about security at party meetings. “We’re concerned about who can get into our meetings and why,” Singh said. “Our work has to stay focused on the election, not on surprise disruptions.”

The Workers’ Party faces a tough election in the weeks ahead, with rival parties accusing it of ignoring voter concerns. Singh said the party will keep all meetings secure to avoid further interruptions. He also said the party remains committed to campaigning on the same platform it has promised voters: jobs, better education, and anti‑corruption reforms.

In other election news, political analysts say that any surprise visit from a public figure could shift voter opinion, especially in regions where the Workers’ Party is trying to win new support. The incident has sparked debate on social media, with users calling for stricter security measures at political events.

For now, the party is focusing on the upcoming polls, hoping to present a united front on its policy agenda. Whether the incident with Noor Deros will affect the Workers’ Party’s campaign remains to be seen.
