Officials say the bus, travelling from Mecca to Madina, collided with a diesel tanker around 1:30 a.m. IST near Mufrihat. Unconfirmed reports claim at least 42 Indian pilgrims are feared dead, including women and children from Hyderabad. The group had just finished their rituals in Mecca and was heading to Madina when the accident happened.
Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has spoken to India’s Deputy Chief of Mission in Riyadh and helped travel agencies in Hyderabad share passenger details with the embassy. The embassy is working to collect all facts and keep families informed.
