Kyiv, Nov 23 (LatestNewsX) — Delegations from Ukraine and the United States will soon convene in Switzerland to examine potential parameters for a future peace deal with Russia. According to Rustem Umerov, secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defence Council, the talks aim to refine the two sides’ vision for the next steps.
Umerov posted on Facebook: “This is another stage of the dialogue that has been ongoing in recent days and is primarily aimed at aligning our vision for the next steps.”
The U.S. news agency Xinhua highlighted that Ukraine is approaching the peace process “with a clear understanding of its interests.”
Earlier that day, President Volodymyr Zelensky formalized a delegation headed by Andriy Yermak, chief of the Presidential Office, to handle discussions with the United States, other partners, and Russia on ending the Ukraine crisis.
On Friday, Zelensky described the moment as “one of the most difficult moments” in the country’s history as he weighs the U.S.-proposed 28‑point peace plan.
“In this critical period, the pressure on Ukraine is at its heaviest. We could face a tough choice: either compromise our dignity or risk losing a key partner. Either the daunting 28 points or an extremely harsh winter,” Zelensky told the nation.
He warned that the coming week will be fraught with challenges and that he plans to propose revisions to the U.S. plan, insisting that Ukraine’s interests be reflected in any agreement, as Xinhua reported.
Zelensky emphasized that he will present arguments, persuade, and offer alternatives, but he will not give the adversary any excuse to argue that Ukraine does not seek peace.
On Thursday, Zelensky announced that the U.S. side had presented a proposal aimed at ending the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
